A Nest Called Freedom

A Nest Called Freedom

In a quiet village nestled beside golden fields, lived a gentle young poet named Sujay. Each morning, he wandered through these fields, searching the winds and whispers for inspiration to craft his verses. Shy yet thoughtful, Sujay was gifted but solitary, striving always to perfect his art. He carried a careful heart, deeply mindful of others' feelings, often placing their needs above his own.

One bright morning, a beautiful melody drifted softly across the fields, captivating Sujay. He had never heard such enchanting music before. Curious, he followed the melodious sound until he discovered its source—a small, shimmering bird named Jhilmil, whose feathers gleamed like sunlight on water.

Approaching carefully, Sujay asked gently:

"Oh little bird with voice so clear,
From what far place did you appear?
Tell me plainly, please, I pray,
Your mystery enchants my day."

Jhilmil sang in reply:

"I come from lands where stars are born,
From winds that dance at early morn.
My song is filled with dreams I keep,
From hidden worlds where secrets sleep."

Sujay, fascinated yet puzzled, softly asked again:

"Tell me, bird, where do you desire,
To fly and find your heart's true fire?
Let me know your dreams, your way,
Perhaps together we could stay."

Jhilmil answered in melodious verses:

"My heart seeks skies without an end,
Where freedom is my closest friend.
Yet maybe these are dreams I weave,
In melodies you might believe."

Thus began their daily meetings, full of poetic exchanges. Sujay recited poetry; Jhilmil responded in song. Their conversations flowed like gentle rivers, though understanding was never fully reached. Yet they needed no more than the rhythm and melody of each other's company. Inspiration filled Sujay, and his poems flourished beautifully. Happiness lit his days, brightening his smiles.

Villagers, noticing Sujay’s newfound joy, were curious about Jhilmil. One by one, they met the magical bird, each returning enchanted and humming her captivating songs.

One gentle evening under a starlit sky, Sujay bravely invited Jhilmil to his home:

"Tonight, please share my simple feast,
My friend, your company brings peace.
Your songs have filled my heart and art,
Please stay a while, don’t soon depart."

Jhilmil, delighted, praised Sujay's cooking melodiously:

"Your food is sweet, prepared with care,
Each bite sings warmth beyond compare.
In this meal, your kindness clear,
Tonight, dear friend, my heart stays near."

Gathering his courage after dinner, Sujay softly confessed his love:

"Jhilmil, my heart no longer roams,
Please make this place your permanent home.
Your presence here my heart has stirred,
Stay always, please, my precious bird."

Jhilmil, startled and saddened, gently responded in song:

"I live for skies wide and free,
Bound to one place, I cannot be.
Our joys found freely in the field,
Where dreams and songs together yield.
Yet know your words inspire me true,
I sing so sweetly because of you."

For the first time, her song carried a sadness that touched Sujay deeply. Feeling rejected and unworthy, he became overwhelmed with sadness. Seeing Sujay's pain, Jhilmil felt panicked, unable to bear the hurt she caused. With a final sorrowful glance, she spread her wings and flew away into the night.

And beneath a quiet, moonless sky, Sujay wept gently, writing poetry into the silence, cherishing memories of songs and verses shared beneath golden fields now silent without Jhilmil's enchanting melodies.
